Identity verification is used by businesses to ensure that users or customers provide information that is associated with the age & identity of a real person. This is achieved with a real-time, electronic process that validates the personal information provided by a user.
How is identity verification performed?
You are required to provide personal information in all required fields on the site you’re trying to sign for, this data is processed, and if the system is unable to verify you with data provided, you may need to do ID photo verification.

What if I’m having trouble verifying my identity?

If you fail the age & identity verification, you’ll be required to provide photos of government issued ID in order to complete the verification process and be registered on the desired site.
What does it mean when I receive a message that my identity cannot be verified?
If your identity verification attempt was unsuccessful, it means that the information you provided
did not match the authoritative sources we use for verification.
Unsuccessful verification attempts may be due to many reasons:
- Your submission may have contained an error.
- You may have submitted an unreadable document for photo verification.
- You may have submitted expired documents.
- You may have used a nickname (ie Bob rather than Robert)
Why am I required to answer additional questions?
If your state requires an additional authentication after age & identity verification, in this case you may be asked to answer a set of additional security questions, or provide photos of government issued ID.
When the knowledge based authentication (KBA) process starts, can I answer several times on set questions?
You can send your answers to set questions only once. Otherwise, an error will be displayed.
Can there be several correct answers on the security questions?
Only one answer is correct.
What if I failed the Knowledge Based Authentication?
If you fail the KBA check, you’ll be asked to go through the photo verification process to verify your identity and be registered on the desired site.
Why do I have to provide photos of my ID?
If your state requires an additional authentication in case age & identity verification or knowledge based authentication fails, in this case you may be asked to provide photos of government issued ID to complete the verification process and be authorized on the site you’re trying to sign up for.
Is photo verification a required step of identity verification? If I am already verified, do I need to go through this process?
Photo verification is a required step only if you failed KYC or KBA checks, as anyway if you want to register on the site, we need to verify your identity first. If you’re already verified, you don’t need to go through this process again.
What if I don't have a mobile phone to take ID photos & selfie?
Any mobile device with built-in cameras such as iPad, tablet, etc will work for photo verification.
If you are able to borrow a mobile device from a friend or family member, the process should only take a few minutes. If none of the above solutions work for you, try contacting the support team of the website you are signing up for, to see if there is an alternative solution.
How does Photo Verification work?
If you use a mobile device to register on the desired site:
- Select country & ID type
- Follow on-screen prompts to take photos of ID & selfie
- Enter SSN (if required by your state)
- Get the verification results
If you use the desktop to register on the desired site:
- Scan QR code to open the form to proceed with photo verification steps described above
- Return to the desktop and click the button Verify to check your status
My ID is from the USA, but I live in a different country, what country should I select from the list?
If your ID document is issued by a country other than the country you are a resident of, you should select the country where your document is issued.
What if I’ve changed my appearance?
The service used to match your selfie to your ID document is prepared for slight changes to your appearance. If you’ve changed your appearance, go ahead and go through the flow. Your photos can be manually reviewed if there are concerns according to matching.
How do I understand that the photo of my ID document is taken well and I won’t receive an error in the end?
To provide good quality photo of your ID document, please make sure that you
- Ensure your ID hasn’t expired
- Don’t put your ID on a reflective surface
- Use indirect lights to avoid glare
- Center the document in the indicated frame, ensure it’s fully readable and you don’t remove it until photo is captured
What are the steps to provide a good selfie for verification?
To provide good quality photo of yourself, please make sure that you
- Position your face into indicated frame on your mobile device
- Use indirect lights to avoid glare
- Avoid backlights
- Don’t take a photo wearing a hat or glasses
- Try to keep your hands steady while taking a photo
How long does it take to verify my ID info and provided photos?
If there are no issues with the sent data, you will be verified in just a few minutes; if a manual review of your document is needed, it may take longer. Once your document is reviewed, you will receive an email indicating whether or not your status was verified, and guidance for next steps if verification was unsuccessful.
